Sterling hotel is located diagonally across from the new light rail station in Phoenix. This light rail system is currently under construction and will make Sterling Hotel just minutes away from the Phoenix Convention Center whish is being tripled in size with completion scheduled for 2008.

The Motel, was built in 1973 and went through renovation and refurbishing in 1998, at which time 75 rooms were redone, along with the restaurant and lounge.

The roof on the commercial building was redone, we are told, in mid to late 1998, at the same time as replacement and repairs were made to the roof over the guest rooms.

The property went through further renovation in 2002 at an approximate cost of $250,000.

The larger meeting room is approximately 1,050 square feet, with a seating capacity of 65 conference-style and 100 theater-style.

The smaller meeting room is approximately 300 square feet, with a seating capacity of 16 conference-style and 35 theater-style.

Each guest room is heated and cooled by its own individual unit. The commercial building is served by a central system.

Typical guest room furnishings include lamp, two drawer dresser and 19" to 25" color television, two chairs, luggage bench, two wall hung pictures, wall hung mirror, built-in lamps and headboard, night table, clock radio, coffee maker, hair dryers in 12 rooms, data ports in 20 rooms, smoke alarm, curtains, carpeted floors, painted drywall walls, ceramic tile flooring in the bathrooms, bathtub with ceramic tile tub surround, shower curtain, lavatory, and single cultured marble sink with wall attached mirror.  Some rooms have a TV armoire.

One leg of the proposed Phoenix Light Rail System is scheduled to run on Jefferson Street, north of the Howard Johnson Airport Inn.

This project could be a tremendous advantage to the property because it will give its guests direct access to the Airport, downtown, central Phoenix, and Tempe in the East Valley, as well.
